The demand for delivering or deploying quality software faster requires organizations to search for solutions in Agile and DevOps methodologies. Test automation is an important and essential part from these aspects. The latest World Quality Report of 2018 – 2019 suggests that the test automation is the biggest thing or technique to deliver “Quality at Speed” as it enables the successful Agile and DevOps adoption.
Test automation cannot be realized without good tools because they determine and describe how automation is performed and whether the benefits of automation can be delivered.
Here are the top test automation tools those are believed and used as they face the challenges in automation in the next few years.

1) Selenium :-

Selenium is the household and popular name when it comes to test automation. It is considered the industry standard for user interface automation testing of web applications. Almost nine testers out of ten testers use or have used Selenium to test Web Applications.

There are two main parts of Selenium: - Selenium IDE is an integrated development environment for selenium, It is implemented as a Chrome and Firefox extension, and allows you to record, edit and debug tests. User can use Selenium IDE without any prerequisite and prior programming knowledge.


The second part is Selenium Web driver. To use Selenium Web driver effectively, the users have to possess advanced programming skills and need to spend considerable time to build automation frameworks and libraries necessary for automation.


Testers can write test scripts in many different languages such as Java, Groovy, Python, C#, PHP, Ruby, Perl at run on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux) and browsers (Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer).

2) TestComplete :-

Testcomplete is very popular tool and in the list this year for its powerful and comprehensive set of features for Web, mobile, and desktop application testing. Testers can use JavaScript, VBScript, Python or C++Script to write test scripts.

TestComplete has an Object Recognition Engine that accurately detects dynamic user interface (UI) elements. This engine is especially useful in applications that have dynamic and constantly changing user interfaces.

Testers can easily use TestComplete because of its record and playback feature. Testers can add or insert checkpoints into test steps to verify results. It is a product of SmartBear so that's why TestComplete can be integrated easily with the products of SmartBear.

3) SoapUI :-


SoapUI is not a test automation tool for Web or mobile app testing but, it is a tool to test API and Services. It is a headless functional testing tool specifically designed for API testing.
SoapUI supports both REST and SOAP services. API automation testers can use either the open-source or pro version. The pro edition has a user-friendly interface and several  advanced features such as assertion wizard, form editor, and SQL query builder.

These all automation testing tools are very helpful for testers to speed up there testing process and also can test everything i.e. UI design, functionality, API accurately.
